Shift of Global Power-As the world laid in the hands of U.S president JFK and Soviet Premier Khrushchev, humankind began to contemplate the consequences of a full on nuclear war. A nuclear conflict between the U.S.A and the Soviet Union would result in numerous catastrophic events, events that would not only change the face of the Earth, but would also change the course of every super power in the world. Due to the influence that the U.S.A and the Soviet Union had in world, this influence was so vast that there was no doubt that a conflict between these two countries would engulf other countries into war, more specifically the allies of the U.S and the U.S.S.R(Pereira). As Europe moves into a state war, the results of this war will have dramatic changes in terms of power, since the U.S and the U.S.S.R will no longer be able to retain their title of a superpower, due to the devastating state their countries will be found in after nuclear war between each other. A world war of these proportions would absolutely shift global power into the hands of new countries. The long-term consequence of this world war would be the decrease of influence by the U.S.S.R and the U.S.A. Global power would most likely reside in Europe, specifically in the countries with the strongest military(Pereira). This is due to the fact that after the long world war, the last standing country would become the new superpower. The chances of the U.S.S.R and the U.S to once again become a super power would be very slim, for most of their focus would be place in rebuilding their country’s infrastructure. As the U.S.S.R loses its influence and power on the world, communist ideologies will also began to diminish(Pereira). The main reason for this decrease of communist ideals will come from the fact that since the U.S.S.R, the leading and most powerful communist country, will began to lose their position as a superpower country, they will also lose the ability to influence other communist countries or to efficiently spread their ideologies. This is another reaction that will emerge from the shifting of power in the world. The shifting of power from the U.S.S.R and the U.S to European countries will be an event that will slowly but surely change the course of history, for history is written by the victors.
Stagnation of Science and Technology- War between the Soviet Union and United States, was not only about which country could build the most powerful and destructive nuclear bomb, but the conflict was also a never-ending competition in which both countries tried to prove their intellectual supremacy in term of scientific and technological advancements(Savranskaya) . The launch of the space war and the space age was triggered by the U.S.S.R’s incredible innovation in space technology. This huge leap in scientific and technological advancements is define by the U.S.S.R’s and the U.S’ revolutionary technology that extends from Sputnik 1, the first satellite to orbit space, and by Vostok 1, the first soviet spacecraft to take a man up to space and finally by the U.S’s world changing achievement of placing the first man in the moon(Savranskaya) . The nuclear war between the U.S and the U.S.S.R will not only demolish both countries’ structure, but it will also leave the world in a state of stagnation in the field of science and technology. The nuclear war between the U.S and the U.S.S.R will immediately leave both countries in a state of turmoil; this state will quickly slow down the progression of science and technology for the U.S and the U.S.S.R, the leading countries of science and technology. Being vital pioneers in the field of science and the technology, the U.S and the U.S.S.R will slowly began to drift away from science and technology(Savranskaya) . For their main focus will be fixated in the reconstruction of their countries. The countries will stop trying to compete with each other, this will slow down progression for the motivation to advance in these fields will no longer exist in the countries. All the energy and resources will instead by mainly if not completely used to reestablish their country(Savranskaya) . My removing the leading countries in science and technology the world will began to see lack advancement. It will also take a lot more time for other countries to reach the pinnacle in science and technology that the U.S and the U.S.S.R came reached this stagnation in the field of science and technology is an apparent, long term effect of this war.
